LARVA GAME STUDIOS

This is our story, this is who we are.

Since 2005, we’ve been partnering with estate and federal government as well as universities to build a solid gaming industry in Mexico. As pioneers in our region we are part of the first success story in Mexican game development industry.

Our Story

Larva Game Studios was founded in 2007 by Jorge Morales, one of Mexico’s most recognized entrepreneurs. The road of entrepreneurship in a practically nonexistent  Gaming industry as it is in Latin America has encouraged our company not only to innovate in internal development and training processes, but also to help universities, government and other fellow game studios to understand the pipeline and accomplish their projects by supporting the industry’s growth. Nowadays there are more than 20 Mexican universities offering Game Development programs; to which our company has supported with the development of their curricula. On the other hand, the Mexican government has put up in place grant offerings and other available resources for those in the Creative media industry such as video games; thanks to the efforts made by  local companies like ours.

immersionThe company was officially incorporated in 2007.  In the early days, the first of the studio’s teams started developing flash-based advertising games for local clients. In 2008, Larva became the Mexican branch of Immersion Games, a Colombian studio known for Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia and Cellfactor: Revolution. During this time period, the company developed two console titles called Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars and Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring published by Ubisoft and by Slang and Konami, respectively.

In 2010, Larva GS decided to return to its roots as an independent studio, and subsequently separated itself from the Colombian studio. Once again, we were  Larva Game Studios and immediately started working on several games as an outsourcing partner. The company received its very first round of capital funding to develop an original title back in 2011; which promoted the the team’s capabilities growth. A second round of capital funding came in 2012 to begin the development of our original IP, Night Vigilante, targeting iOS and Android devices, the game was released in 2015.
